Singer Zahara has reportedly bought her mom a car just days after a court fined her for missing several appearances relating to her outstanding tax matters.
Elundini Tourism in the Eastern Cape posted a picture of Zahara and her mom on Twitter with a caption: “Zahara bought her mom a new car”.
The singer has not made any public statement about the car.
Last week on Monday Tax authorities brought Zahara’s matter to the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court, sitting in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
The Loliwe hit-maker was found guilty of contempt of court and fined R1 500 or three months’ imprisonment.
The South African Revenue Service (Sars) is known to keep a watch on social media, where many celebrities flaunt their wealth.
The Times quoted the National Prosecuting Authority as saying Zahara, whose given name is Bulelwa Mkutukana, was charged in her capacity.
She was also charged as a representative of her company, Zahara Trading (Pty) Ltd, for the non-submission of personal and company income tax returns to Sars.
Zahara is expected back in court next week on Friday, 25 June.
