England are in a major final for the first time in 55 years.
The Three Lions needed an extra-time penalty to beat Denmark 2-1 to reach the EURO2020 final.
Some 40 000 English fans witnessed history at Wembley on Wednesday night.
But it was a bit shaky to start with.
Denmark broke Jordan Pickford’s more than 700-minute clean sheet record with a spectacular free-kick from Mikkel Damsgaard in the 30th minute.
Bukayo Saka justified his inclusion in the England semi-final team with a dazzling display of wing play.
Wembley had fallen into gloom until Saka found space to receive a perfect Harry Kane through ball.
Saka’s cross intended for Raheem Sterling was turned past Denmark’s Kasper Schmeichel by his teammate Kjaer to level the score.
A few minutes before that Saka had found Sterling whose first-time shot bounced off Schmeichel to safety.
It was all square at halftime.
With Italy waiting to find out their opponent in the EURO2020 final the second half was end-to-end stuff.
Extra-time beckoned and so it was.
England were awarded a rather soft penalty after Sterling fell inside the penalty area in the 104th minute.
Kane stepped up and scored and England held on to the end.
England play Italy on Sunday.
