Eikenhof Water Pump Station Repairs: Taps Could Run Dry In Jozi On Saturday

WATER ALERT: Johanesburg taps could run dry on Saturday

A power maintenance operation at the Rand Water Eikenhof pump station on Saturday will result in a reduced water supply to some parts of Johannesburg.

“Northern and Western areas of Johannesburg will experience poor to no water supply during the peak water demand periods, and the most affected areas will be those in high laying and high demand areas,” said Johannesburg Water at the weekend.

City Power will be undertaking nine hours of urgent maintenance on the 1B transformer at the Rand Water Eikenhof pump station on 19 February from 06:30 to 15:30.

During the maintenance operation, the pumping of water from the station will be reduced by 33%, warned Johannesburg Water. 

The water supply reduction will affect Roodepoort/Randburg areas including Bergbron, Claremont, Delarey, Whiteridge, Roodekrans (all extensions), Wilropark (all ext), Helderkruin (all ext), and Constantia Kloof (all ext).

Allens Nek (all ext), Weltevreden (all ext), Florida Hills, Florida North, Discovery (all ext), Selwyn, Florida Township, Horison, Horison View, Roodepoort North, Florida Park (all ext), Constantia Park, and Honeydew (all ext), will also be affected. 

The water reduction will also affect Zandspruit, Laserpark, Randparkridge, Cosmo City, Lanseria, Thabo Mbeki Informal settlement, Olivedale, Sundowner, Northwold, Boskruin, Bromhof, Kya Sands, Bloubosrand, Eagle Canyon, Honeydew View, Poortview, Ruimsig, Wilgeheuwel, Princess, Grobler Park (all ext), Lindhaven, Little Falls, Harveston, Honeydew (all ext), and parts of Northriding. 

Langlaagte/ Southdale areas that will be affected include Mondeor, Southgate, Meredale, Alan Manor, Eagles Nest, Southfork, Kibler Heights, Eikenhof, Lougherin A.H, Coronationville, Westbury, Claremont, Triomf, Westdene, Newlands, Greymont, Albertskroon, Albertsville, and Langlaagte, Industria, 

In addition, the water supply reduction will be felt in Bosmont, Riverlea, Longdale, Vrededorp, Fordsburg, Brixton, Mayfair, Cottesloe, Janhofmeyer, Rossmore, Hursthill, Montclare, Melville, Emmerentia, Auckland Park, Greenside, Westcliff, Parkview, Fairlands, Berario, and Northcliff (all ext).

Soweto areas that will be affected by reduced water supplies include Pimville, Power Park, Diepkloof, Orlando East, Orlando West, Dobsonville, Naturena Klipspruit, Meadowlands, Comptonville, Meredale, Moroka, Jabavu, Molapo, Jabulani, Tladi, Moletsane, Mofolo South, Mapetla, Zola, Zondi, Naledi and all extensions, Emdeni, Mofolo north, Mofolo central, parts of Dube, Chiavelo and extensions, Protea North, Protea South, Dhlamini and extensions, Eldoradopark (all ext), Klipspruit west, and Klipspruit.

During the water supply disruption, Johannesburg Water said it will provide alternative supply in a form of stationary and roaming water tankers to reduce the impact on consumers.
