A motorist, who was thought to have suffered a seizure before crashing into an electricity pole, could not be immediately assisted on Thursday morning because his car came to a rest on top of live wires.
Emer-G-Med said paramedics were on the scene of the crash along Stellenberg Road in the Pretoria East area.
“It is believed that the driver of a vehicle had a seizure whilst driving and subsequently collided with an electricity pole,” said Emer-G-Med.
“Paramedics are currently awaiting the electricity department to declare the scene safe due to there being multiple electricity wires running across and beneath the vehicle.”
Technicians eventually arrived and deactivated the live wires to allow paramedics to assist the driver.
Fortunately the driver was still alive.
Emer-G-Med said the “patient was removed at 10:20 after electricity department eventually arrived”.
The driver was transported to a hospital under “advanced life support”.
