President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday announced the appointment of General Sehlahle Fannie Masemola as the new national commissioner of police.
General Masemola, a former deputy police commissioner, replaces outgoing General Khehla Sitole whose tenure prematurely ended today.
The president said General Masemola was “fit and proper” for the position.
Ramaphosa said General Masemola has an outstanding record of achievement in policing in South Africa.
