A former player’s comments have put a damper on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s shine in a fine run that has seen the Gunners perched at the summit of the EPL
Fresh from Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool, Arteta’s management has been rubbished by former Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabonese footballer, who left Arsenal in a huff for a stint at Barcelona in Spain and is back in the English Premier League with Chelsea, did not mince his words.
A video has emerged, in which Aubameyang can be heard saying: “Big characters and big players… he can’t deal with it. He needs some young players who don’t say anything.”
The comments are in an apparent reference to Arteta, who has shipped off top players including Mezut Özil, Alexandre Lacazette, and more recently Nicolas Pepe in his effort to rebuild his team.
However, the Chelsea star has since recanted his harsh criticism saying he was emotional at the time the video was recorded around the rime he joined Barca.
