Mdutjana – Simon Rhantsi Skosana, the man accused of attacking and robbing world-renowned Ndebele artist Dr. Esther Mahlangu of cash and a firearm at her Mpumalanga homestead, has been released.

Skosana was set free after the Mdutjana Magistrate’s Court struck the matter of the role.

Monica Nyuswa the Mpumalanga National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson said the case was removed from the court roll on Thursday, (20 October 2022).

“The magistrate removed the matter due to an outstanding investigation from the police, once the information is obtained charges against the accused will be reinstated,” said Nyuswa.

“The accused, Simon Rhantsi Skosana was charged with robbery with aggravating circumstances and has been in custody until the matter got struck off the roll today.”

However, the NPA said the charges related to the attack on Mahlangu at her home in Weltevrede, near Siyabuswa, will be reinstated once investigations are completed.
