Pretoria – South African National Parks (SANParks) senior manager in the Environmental Crime Investigative Unit (ECI) Kobus de Wet was stormed and killed by a hippo while camping in the Kruger National Park (KNP).
In a terse communique, SANParks said the tragic incident occurred on Saturday, (12 August 2023).
De Wet was based at Groenkloof in Pretoria.
SANParks said details were sketchy at this stage and circumstances around the incident were under investigation.
“SANParks Executive Management sends out sincere condolences to his immediate family, friends, and the SANParks family,” said KNP.
“The memorial and funeral arrangements are underway.”
