Johannesburg – The Nelson Mandela Foundation on Monday announced that Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, has graciously accepted an invitation to deliver the 21st Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture.

She will be the youngest #NMAL speaker.

The lecture is scheduled for 5 December 2023 in Johannesburg.

“This lecture holds special significance as it coincides with the tenth anniversary of Madiba’s passing,” the foundation said in a statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The event will take place in Johannesburg.

“Malala embodies the type of leadership we believe the world needs across all levels of society,” said Nelson Mandela Foundation acting CE, Verne Harris

“In the face of current global challenges, which can seem daunting, she stands as an inspiring symbol of hope for a just and equitable future.”

Malala was shot by the Taliban in 2012, when she was just 14 years old, but continued her work and became the youngest person ever to win the world-famous Nobel Peace Prize.
