Mbombela (Nelspruit) – The bodies of a teacher and his “friend” were found with gunshot wounds along a road in Sukani Trust, outside White River, near Mbombela in Mpumalanga.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the bodies were found in a pool of blood on Wednesday night.
Their mobile phones and other belongings were left untouched.
Brigadier Mohlala said a grey VW Polo was also found on the scene of the murders.
Police found the keys to the VW Polo in the pocket of one of the dead men.
Brigadier Mohlala said six 9mm empty cartridge cases and another from an R1 rifle were found on the scene.
“Both victims had gunshot wounds. On further investigation, it was established that one of the deceased was a teacher at one of the local schools and a union secretary,” Brigadier Mohlala said.
“The motive of the killing is unknown at the moment and police have launched an investigation.”
The teacher and the other dead person have not been named.
No arrests have been made.
