Moscow – Since 2013, more than 50 million Troika cards have been issued in the Russian capital to pay for public transport fares, reports the press service of the Moscow Transport Department.
During this time, the card has turned from a convenient method of fare payment into a multifunctional assistant.
The Troika selects the optimal fare for paying for trips in the city, having analysed about 3.5 thousand possible variants.
This is one of the most outstanding indicators in the world.
Last year, the production of the Troika card and its chip was fully localised in Moscow, – said the Department.
In addition, users have the opportunity to link in the web application of the Velobike service and use it instead of entering a login when renting bicycles.

The Troika can be paid in the ticket offices of the Moscow Zoo, the Pushkin Museum, in the Zaryadye Park and on the cable car connecting Vorobyovy Gory and Luzhniki.
The Troika can also be used to buy a season ticket for car parks with a barrier or to enter intercepting car parks.
Bonuses are awarded for topping up the Troika, which can be used to pay for fares or mobile phones.
In addition, a virtual analogue of the card is being tested for smartphone fare payment.
Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport said: “We have united all transport in the capital thanks to the Troika card.
“Our success has also interested colleagues from other cities, and we are eager to share our experience with them.
“At the moment, the SberTroika ticket system based on the Moscow Troika card operates in more than 25 Russian regions.”
Liksutov added that a virtual analogue of Troika is now being tested to give passengers the opportunity to pay for a fare with a smartphone.
The Moscow Troika is one of the best transport cards in the world, – concluded Maksim Liksutov.
The Moscow Transport has one of the most developed high-tech ticketing systems with a wide range of innovative contactless solutions.
It has been recognised on an international level: in 2020 and 2021, it received the prestigious Transport Ticketing Award as the Best Ticketing Program.
In October 2021, the Moscow Metro was the first in the world to implement facial recognition payment service on all metro stations.
Moscow’s ticketing solutions are implemented in other regions of Russia.
To take advantage of all the features of the Troika card, you need to link it to your personal account in the Metro Moscow app (Google Play, App Store).
