Four killed In A Head-On Collision Involving A Minibus Taxi And A Car In North West

DEADLY CRASH AFTERMATH: The burnt-out shells of a minibus taxi and a car that collided head-on along the N4 outside Zeerust in the North West. Four people died in the Friday collision

Zeerust – Four people died and three others were injured in a head-on collision involving a minibus taxi and private car on the N4 outside Zeerust on Friday.

“According to the preliminary investigation, a private vehicle which was traveling from Zeerust collided with a minibus taxi that was traveling in the opposite direction, both vehicles caught fire on collision,” said Oshebeng Keonyaditse, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management in North West.

Keonyaditse said three other occupants, one in critical condition, were taken to Zeerust Hospital.

He said North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management MEC Sello Lehari sent messages of condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery. 

“He (Lehari) appeals to all motorists to continue to obey the rules of the roads at all times, take breaks during long trips, and inspect vehicles for roadworthiness before taking journeys.”

The names of the deceased have not yet been released.
