Durban – A security officer has been found dead, with a gunshot wound to the head, at a dam in Bull Bull Drive, Chatsworth, KwaZulu-Natal.
First responders said the security officer was killed during the night.
The security officer had been on nightshift duty at the dam when he was fatally shot.
ALS Paramedics said they were called to the scene just after 07:00 Monday morning.
The paramedics said they found a male security officer, in his 30s, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
“Unfortunately there was nothing Paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene,” ALS Paramedics said.
“The time of shooting or the events leading up to the shooting are unknown.”
South African Police Service officers were in attendance at the scene where the body was found.
The name of the dead officer has not yet been released and no arrests have been reported.
