Potchefstroom – The two suspects arrested with bakkie loaded with dagga will be back in court next month on 26 November 2024.
The accused, 32-year-old Asiphe Nomde and 41-year-old Mncedisi Mthunzini, were arrested on Saturday afternoon, (5 October 2024).
The pair first appeared in the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court, North West, on Monday, (7 October 2024) and were released on warning.
Narrating events leading to the dagga bust, police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said law enforcers in Ikageng acted on information regarding suspected drug dealing activities in the area.
“The pair’s Toyota Hilux vehicle was spotted and stopped for a search leading to the discovery of bags containing more than 340 kg of dagga with an estimated street value of R5 million,” said Brigadier Mokgwabone.
“The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena thanked the police for their relentless efforts in the fight against trafficking of drugs.
“He further urged the community to continue to be the eyes and ears of the police to prevent and combat crime.”
