Johannesburg – South African Football Association (SAFA) president, 73-year-old Danny Jordaan, another 55-year-old official, and a 46-year-old businessman were arrested Wednesday morning.
“Warrants issued for the arrest of two prominent South African Football Association’s executive officers aged 73 and 55 together with a 46 years old businessman were executed this morning, (13 November 2024),” Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale said without naming the arrested trio.
The arrests follow an intensive investigation by the Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation based in Johannesburg into allegations of R1.3 million fraud and theft
The football boss and his accomplices are expected to appear later today in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
Earlier in the week The Bulrushes reported that the fraud matter dating back a decade had come back to haunt Jordaan and Notinmyname International was calling for the resignation of the football supremo.

“The allegations are that between 2014 and 2018, the president of SAFA used the organization’s resources for his personal gain including hiring a private security company for his personal protection, a Public Relations company without authorisation from the SAFA Board,” said Colonel Mogale.
At the weekend the City Press reported that fraud accused Jordaan would appear in court on Wednesday alongside co-accused Safa CFO Gronie Hluyo.
“The Serious Commercial Crime Investigation charged with probing the allegations executed search seizure warrants, 8 March 2024 at SAFA’s office where an assortment of electronic gadgets and files were seized for further investigation thus leading to the arrest,” said Colonel Mogale.
Jordaan has previously denied any wrongdoing.
On Tuesday, Jordaan approached the high court to try and interdict his arrest, but that matter appears to be water under the bridge.
