Makwassi – Popular singer Makhadzi has blamed the promoter for her no-show at Makwassi Stadium in the North West.

Fans rioted and vandalised the stadium on Boxing Day, (Thursday 26 December 2024), after they realised that the singer of the “One Woman Show” fame was not going to perform.

Angry fans torched the stage and the fire destroyed the sound equipment.

In a statement on Friday, (27 December 2024), Makhadzi Entertainment blamed the promoter for failing to meet agreed obligations.

“Please note that Makhadzi and her travelling team are informed of events only after all payments have been confirmed, in accordance with the terms outlined in the contract,” Makhadzi Entertainment said, placing the blame for the flopped show squarely on the promoter.

Makhadzi Entertainment said they received a deposit, but the rest of the payments were not made within the agreed two weeks.

That means that Makhadzi Entertainment did not inform the singer from Limpopo that she had been booked for a Boxing Day gig in the North West.

“We did not receive the balance within the 14 days,” said Makhadzi Entertainment.

“We sincerely apologise to our dedicated fans in Makwasa.”

Makhadzi Entertainment did not rule out a performance in Makwassi in the future.

“We look forward to seeing you soon,” the statement said.

However, It was unclear who was to be held liable for the damage to the stadium, stage, and sound equipment.
