Durban – At least 18 people were injured in when a minibus taxi and a car along the N3 Durban Bound, before Spine Road, just after 12:30 on Monday afternoon.
ALS Paramedics Medical Services said when they arrived on the crash scene they found “total carnage”.
ALS Paramedics Medical Services spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson said: “A taxi and light motor vehicle had collided on the freeway before both vehicles overturned multiple times with the taxi ejecting some of its passengers.
“Immediately a triage system was set up and more ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched to assist with the multiple casualty scene.”

Jamieson said 18 people sustained various injuries ranging from moderate to severe.
They were stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further treatment that they required.
At this stage the events leading up to the accident were unknown.
The SA Police Service was on the scene.
