KaBokweni – Mass killing suspect, 39-year-old Bongani Patrick Nkosi, who is accused of participating in the Pienaar Tavern shooting that left eight people dead has been denied bail.
Nkosi briefly appeared in the KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court, near Mbombela (Nelspruit), in Mpumalanga on Tuesday, (14 January 2025).
Nkosi is accused of partaking in a bloody shooting at a tavern in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Six people died on the spot and two others succumbed to gunshot injuries in hospital on the same day. Two others were being treated in hospital.

The suspect was arrested on Monday.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, said the suspect was remanded in custody.
Nkosi will be back in court on 21 January 2025 to make a formal bail application.
