Skukuza – A mutilated body of a man in his 40s, with a severed leg, has been found in the Kruger National Park, in Mpumalanga.
The man had possibly been attacked by wild animals.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane said the body was discovered by rangers on routine patrol on Monday, (20 January 2025).
“Police in Skukuza are investigating an incident after the body of a man was found with some injuries on his lower right limb inside the park in the early hours of Monday,” said Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane.
“Preliminary investigations by the police show that the man may have been bitten and killed by wild animals.
“However, that will form part of the investigation.”
Lieutenant Ndubane revealed that the deceased, whose identity has been withheld until his next of kin has been informed, has a pending court case for trespassing.
“Police records also show that the man was previously arrested and was currently attending court on a case of trespassing,” said Lieutenant Ndubane, adding: “An inquest case has been opened and is currently under investigation”.
She further cautioned people about unlawfully gaining entry into the Kruger National Park.
“The park is home to wild animals that are very dangerous and can cause harm a lot and even kill human beings,” warned Lieutenant Ndubane.
