Edmonton – Rising Afro-pop and contemporary sounds sensation Gemma has set the music scene ablaze with the release of her highly anticipated album, Gemma, while also securing a coveted spot as one of Rolling Stone Africa’s Future of Music cover stars.
The prestigious feature highlights her alongside other groundbreaking African visionary and genre-defying artists shaping the continent’s sonic evolution.
Speaking on the latest album release, Gemma says: “This album is my whole heart.
“It’s the most vulnerable I’ve ever been in my music.
“Each song carries a piece of where I’ve been, where I’m going, and what Zimbabwe means to me.
“I wanted this to be a home for anyone who’s ever felt lost and a celebration for those who’ve found their way back.”
‘Gemma’ The Album
Gemma’s latest project, ‘Gemma’, showcases her growth as an artist influenced by deep personal storytelling.
“This album is a huge honor as it is a celebration of resilience and ambition.
“After many songs, projects, EPs, and collaborations, it was important to put out a wholesome body of work,” Gemma shared in an interview.
The well-polished 16-track masterpiece, which blends Afro-soul, pop, gospel, and traditional Zimbabwean sounds, was produced by Manuchie, DJ Tamuka, Oskid, Soko, and Gangstamadeit.
Every song is accompanied by high-quality visuals, and the album features collaborations with Feli Nandi on “Tariro”, Nutty O on the heartfelt song “Wandoda”, Naishe (an up-coming artist from Victoria Falls) on “Intro”, and Nigerian artist Peruzzi on the song “Holy”.

In a major career milestone, Gemma has been named one of Rolling Stone Africa’s Future of Music cover stars, an honor reserved for the most innovative and influential young artists on the continent.
The special edition celebrates musicians who are redefining African soundscapes and taking the world by storm.
Gemma is among other artists from the continent including; Rebo (Congo), Joshua Baraka (Uganda), Usimamane (South Africa), Ronisia (Cape Verde), Widgunz (Côte d’Ivoire), Xlimkid (Ghana), and Abigail Chams (Tanzania).
Together, they represent the vibrant diversity and global appeal of Africa’s music industry.
