Delmas – Extortion-accused Taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni somewhat stunned reporters as he walked into the Delmas Magistrate’s Court, in Mpumalanga, with his unexpected declaration that he was happy to be given “this platform” to preach the word of God.
Sibanyoni and his three co-accused – Bafana “King of Sky” Sindane, Mvimbi Masilela, and Philemon Msiza – had been summonsed to the Delmas Magistrate’s Court, where their matter was re-enrolled just over a week after it was struck off the roll in a different court.
All four are accused of extorting over R2 million from a businessman in a protection fees racket.
However, speaking to reporters yesterday, Thursday, 28 May 2026, Sibanyoni said he believed the state brought him to court not as an accused person, but as a “born again man of God”.
The 60-year-old taxi tycoon, dressed in a suit and tie, said his mission was to spread the word of God.
“You remember that I even told you last time about preaching about God,” said Sibanyoni.
“Today I’m here in Delmas Magistrate’s Court to preach the word of God. I hope they give me the right platform to preach.
“Remember that the God we had while we were in Middleburg Magistrate’s Court and Kwaggafontein Magistrate’s Court is the one we still have today here in Delmas Magistrate’s Court.”
After a brief appearance, Sibanyoni and his three co-accused were released on R70 000 bail each with strict conditions.
Sibanyoni declared that God was “always with him, as he even managed to secure bail through His name.”
