Johannesburg – A warrant for arrest has been issued against Ngizwe Mchunu, the leader of the anti-immigrant group Amabhinca Nation.
The court previously ruled that Mchunu’s utterances about the Economic Freedom Fighters leader, Julius Malema, were defamatory and unlawful.
The court ordered Mchunu to make a public apology.
However, he refused to do so and instead repeated his defamatory comments against Malema.

In a judgment handed down today, Friday 6 June 2026, the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division, ruled that: “Ngizwe Mchunu is found guilty of contempt of court” in that “he intentionally and unlawfully republished statements” earlier deemed to be defamatory.
“A warrant of arrest is issued against Mr. Mchunu for his arrest and detention in prison for a period of 10 days,” the judgment said.
Mchunu was ordered to pay costs.
He could, however, escape the sanction if he simply apologises to the EFF leader.
“Only upon publication of an unreserved apology to the Court on social media platforms, which Mr. Mchunu has been active for the last six months, uploaded to Caselines, and without repetition of the impugned statements, will the afrosfai warrant of arrest and detention be suspended,” the court ruled.
