Mdantsane – Eastern Cape police have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of former world champion boxer Zolani Tete, who was gunned down outside his Mdantsane home on 21 August 2026.
One suspect has already been formally charged with murder and attempted murder, while three others are expected to appear in court soon.

The first arrest was on Saturday, 22 August 2026, in KuGompo City.
Police said three arrests were made on Sunday, 23 August 2026: one in Mdantsane and two in Scenery Park.
A 30-year-old man arrested in connection with the same matter on Saturday, 22 August 2026, has been released and remains a potential witness.
The police said investigations were continuing and more arrests were expected.
