Pretoria – Police have arrested a suspect linked to the murder of a woman whose body was discovered at Mooifontein Cemetery in Tembisa.
The body, the tenth found since July in Ekurhuleni, was discovered in the morning yesterday, Saturday 26 September 2026.
“It is alleged that following the murder, the suspect fled to Tzaneen, Limpopo, where he was apprehended by police on Saturday evening at approximately 23:00,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe.
The law enforcers involved in coordinating, tracing, and arresting the suspect included members of Crime Intelligence in the Ekurhuleni District, Tembisa South detectives, the Investigative Psychology Unit, experts from the Gauteng Local Criminal Record Centre, and police officers from Bolobedu Police Station.
Commenting on the arrest, South African Police Service Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane said: “I commend this multidisciplinary team for their swift response, coordination and determination, which resulted in the apprehension of the suspect on the same day”.
“This is the kind of policing we expect from our members.
“We will continue to pursue perpetrators of murder and gender-based violence and femicide and ensure that they face the full might of the law.”
Lieutenant General Dimpane said the investigation and tracing of perpetrators linked to other women’s bodies found in Ekurhuleni is still underway, with police following all available leads.
