Delareyville – A 37-year-old former Post Office branch manager is expected to appear before Delareyville Magistrate’s Court, in the North West, on Friday, (28 April 2023), facing charges of fraud and money laundering.

The former manager accused of stealing money from the accounts of South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) beneficiaries was arrested earlier this week on Wednesday, (26 April 2023), by elite crime busters – the Hawks.

The former manager is accused of fraud involving over R1.2 million.

It is alleged that between 2020 and 2022, the suspect unlawfully gained access to the payment systems of the Post Office and the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA).

The accused allegedly pretended to be processing payments and transfers on behalf of clients and beneficiaries of both the Post Office and SASSA.

The accused allegedly transferred a portion or at times all the money from various accounts into two of her Post Office accounts.
