Pretoria – Four convicted murderers – Mamelodi “taxi boss” Vusi “Khekhe” Mathibela, Sipho Hudla, Matamela Mutapa, and Bonginkosi Khumalo have each been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of businessman Wandile Bozwana and attempted murder of his female companion.
All the accused were sentenced at the High Court in Pretoria on Friday.
Bozwana had been at loggerheads with the North West government over disputed contracts amounting to R30 million when he was killed.
The North West businessman was shot dead in October 2015. His female companion was also shot but survived the incident.
Although all the accused pleaded not guilty, they were found guilty of murder and attempted murder.

However, over the past nine years, the police investigating team has been hard at work in putting together a watertight case that ultimately led to conviction and lengthy sentences for four accused.
Commenting on the sentences, National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) General Fannie Masemola said: “Well done to the SAPS team. The team worked hard to build a strong case that was able to stand in court.”
He added; “We hope that this conviction and sentencing will bring about closure to the families of the victims involved.
“We still have another pending matter on the very same matter… that case is yet to be finalised.
“We hope that this sentencing will serve as a deterrent and a lesson, that the long arm of the law will not be kind nor will it be selective to those who are found on the wrong side of the law.”
