Rape Accused French footballer Benjamin Mendy who spent Christmas and New Year’s Day behind bars was freed on bail on Friday with stringent conditions.
The 27-year-old Manchester City player has been in jail since August, last year, when the first rape allegations were made against him.
Since then the number of accusers has gone up to five and Mendy now faces seven counts of rape.
However, AFP reports that Judge Patrick Thompson granted Mendy bail at a hearing at Chester Crown Court with “stringent” conditions. The Frenchman was ordered to surrender his passport.
Manchester City suspended the defender, who lives in lives in Prestbury near Macclesfield, soon after he was arrested and charged.
