Johannesburg – The Patriotic Alliance (PA) has suspended its deputy president, Kenny Kunene, who was found with a murder suspect when police swooped on a Sandton house to effect an arrest.
Kunene, who is also the City of Johannesburg MMC for Transport, has denied any wrongdoing.
He said he was at murder-suspect Katiso “KT” Molefe’s house to facilitate an exclusive for a reporter of his online publication.
Molefe, who was arrested on Sunday, is one of the four suspects accused of the murder of DJ Sumbody.

Reacting to the compromising situation Kunene was caught in, PA President Gayton McKenzie announced that he had suspended his deputy.
“Firstly, I believe Kenny 100%. I can’t expect everyone to believe him, hence we launching a full investigation to prove what we already know, which is that he is innocent,” said McKenzie.
“Kenny Kunene will be investigated, and I’m gonna tell you who’s gonna investigate him, lawyers of good character, and while he’s being investigated, I’m going to remove him from being an MMC.
“I’m also going to tell him to stand back from politics for one month until the investigation is done.
“That’s the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life.”
