Pretoria – Crime-accused pair, 56-year-old Andrea Johnson and Feroz Khan of the same age, have been granted bail of R10 000 each in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.
The former Head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Johnson, and fired Deputy Head of Crime Intelligence within the South African Police Service (SAPS), Khan, were arrested earlier today, Friday, 30 October 2026.

The pair face a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (Johnson as an accessory after the fact) and another of defeating the administration of justice.
In addition, Johnson faces a charge of contravention of the National Prosecuting Authority Act 23 of 1998.
The crimes were allegedly committed between 1 April 2018 and 1 April 2019 when Johnson was NPA Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, stationed at Pretoria DPP’s office, while Khan was a Major General attached to SAPS Crime Intelligence.
Allegations are that on 26 June 2018, Khan had a serious argument with his junior, SAPS Crime Intelligence female employee, Brigadier Phethle.
This argument led to a physical confrontation where Khan allegedly attacked the victim with a pen by stabbing her and further hit her with his hands and a paper file.
The assault allegedly led to the victim sustaining injuries to her face and chest area.
The victim then reported the matter to the police in June 2018.
However, it is alleged that Khan submitted a warning statement to the investigating officer on 5 July 2018 before the docket was submitted to the NPA for guidance and decision.
This prompted an investigation into how Khan was able to submit the warning statement prior to the NPA receiving the docket.
Investigations into the matter revealed that Johnson, without the permission of the National Director of Public Prosecutions, allegedly disclosed information to Khan, and they both acted in common purpose to hinder prosecution against Khan.
After investigations by the Commission’s Recommendation Task Team, the two were arrested on 30 October 2026.
In court, the state did not oppose their release on bail because the two are not a flight risk and their addresses were confirmed.
They were both granted R10 000 bail each, with a condition that Johnson should hand over her passport to the investigating officer by 4 November 2026.
The matter was postponed to 2 February 2027 for further investigations.
